One of the issues that we explore in the 2015 Q1 Agile State of the Art Survey was how often agile teams release their software-based solutions. We asked about how often they release internally, say into a
pre-production testing environment or a demo environment, and how often they released into production. This insight summarizes what we found.
As you can see in the following diagram, 82% of agile teams internally release their working software one or more times per iteration, and as we know most agile teams have two-week iterations. These internal releases are often into a demo environment so that stakeholders may see the progress that the team is making or into a pre-production testing environment.
The following diagram summarizes how often agile teams release into Production. There are a few interesting observations to make:
